Ladon Alex is an illustrator and painter based in Denton, Texas as well as Little Rock, Arkansas, the latter being where he attends school at UALR. “9-2-5 is a piece that expresses my personal views towards working a 9 to 5 for the rest of my life. The piece can be split up into 3 general aspects of working in almost any industry, the first one being the corporation or industry itself, which is represented as the faceless gold-headed figure in the foreground. The second aspect is the figure in the middle ground passing the first figure, who is symbolic of the boss/manager who has made a name for himself (or been given more authority) in this void of a company, and the 3rd aspect represented in this piece are the replaceable and disposable employees who work their whole life within the organization who will never get recognized or noticed, being the small red silhouettes of people in the background. The black silhouette of a head peaking in the room on the left side is something I’m leaving up to the viewers' personal interpretations. All this being said, I do not think I’m above anyone who has, needs, or aspires to have a 9 to 5 job, but personally this way of life would do nothing but constrain me and limit my potential to be the artist/individual I and many others who share this mindset seek to be.” -Ladon Alex
